The real deal’s been safely smashed in places like Fiji, Tonga, and Vanuatu for generations – over half the blokes (and women) drink it regularly with zero dramas. If there was an issue, they’d know by now. Still unsure? Check out Dr Andrew Weil’s take on it HERE.
Short Answer: Play it safe.
Kava’s not booze – but it does mellow you out and subtly slows your brain’s processing.
There’s solid evidence it can impair your ability to sequence events and react, even though you might feel fine.
In some states this might cause you to be charged with DUI if you are to admit to drinking kava and have an issue.
Kava is not currently able to be tested for or gauged with drug or alcohol testing.
