Description
Waka Kava – What is the first thing people think of when you say “kava”…. Its FIJI of course. The next words you will normally here people say is “Bula” or “Kava”.
Fiji has a rich cultural history that revolves around kava. It is kept to this current day with Fijians of all ethnicity enjoying drinking kava. Of all the kava varieties that are available to Fijians, “Waka” is the most prized.
Waka kava powder is made up of ONLY the lateral roots of the kava plant. These lateral roots are heavy in kava lactones and give a very heavy body effect. It is distinct in its dark colour as it is made only from the lateral roots. If you see kava advertised as “waka” but it is creamy, off white or similar it is not true waka fiji kava.
If you really want to maximise your brew we can highly recommend also purchasing one of our specialised kava straining bags. Their fine micron screen allows even our fine grade kava powder to be used in them.
